To run a java application that requires a JNI library I have to run it
as
LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/lib/jni:/usr/lib/jvm/java-6-openjdk/jre/lib/amd64/xawt/
CLASSPATH=/usr/share/java/vtk.jar:. java Cone
As /usr/lib/jvm/java-6-openjdk/jre/lib/amd64/xawt/ is an internal jre
implementation platform-dependent directory which cannot be determined
easily it should be searched automatically by the jre.
/usr/lib/jni is the directory is where Debian installs all JNI libraries
so it should be searched automatically as well.

Hi,
openjdk-6 was last released with Debian 7.0 (wheezy), which had its LTS
support end nearly a year ago and which has now been archived.
I'm therefore closing the remaining openjdk-6 bugs, assuming they are no
longer relevant for newer (and still supported) openjdk releases.
