One notices that
$ apt-get --purge remove texlive-base-bin
takes so long because it does
Running 'mktexlsr /usr/share/texmf /var/lib/texmf /usr/share/texmf-texlive'.
This may take some time... done.
Running 'updmap-sys'.
This may take some time...
for each dependency, without even noticing that in the end we plan to
throw out the results and tools to make those results anyway.
