Package: rsync
Version: 2.6.6-1
Severity: wishlist
Hi, in Sarge rsync suggests ssh, which is normal as that package
included both the SSH server and client. In Etch this changed.
Suggesting ssh is fine, but I think it could be more clear to suggest
both openssh-server and openssh-client. Not because it's evil to suggest
a metapackage, but because each package provide something distinct for rsync.
For example, if rsync would be split in rsync-server and rsync-client, each one
would suggest its associated openssh component. But rsync containing both
doesn't change the fact that the contribution of openssh-client to
"rsync-client" is independent from the contribution of openssh-server to
"rsync-server".
Note that I notice that rsync's package description is not clear about
it containing both the client and the daemon, which would clarify the
intention of splitting the dependencies.
I won't blame you for considering this of pedantic severity, but
wishlist is the lowest.
