--- Begin Message ---Package: libdvdread3 Version: 0.9.4-4 Severity: normal When attempting to read Japanese language DVDs (region 2) under a UTF-8 locale (tried both en_IN and jp_JP) with libdvdcss 1.2.8-0.0, I seem to have problems. With vlc or totem, there is unbounded memory usage, until the process is killed. With mplayer or lsdvd, an error is produced. The lsdvd output, as the least cluttered, appears below: $lsdvd libdvdread: Using libdvdcss version 1.2.8 for DVD access libdvdread: Invalid title IFO (VTS_01_0.IFO). Can't open ifo 1! $ vlc reports a slightly different error: $ gnome-vlc & $ VLC media player 0.7.1 Bond [00000211] main input: playlist item `dvd:///dev/dvd' libdvdread: Using libdvdcss version 1.2.8 for DVD access ***** cannot find data packet ***** cannot find data packet ***** cannot find data packet ***** cannot find data packet ***** cannot find data packet ***** cannot find data packet ***** cannot find data packet ***** cannot find data packet ***** cannot find data packet ***** cannot find data packet ***** cannot find data packet ***** cannot find data packet [1]+ Done gnome-vlc $ The vlc process was manually closed after using 906152K of memory. Please note that libdvdcss seems to be doing the right thing, in that the .dvdcss directory is populated with meaningful data. There seems to be no problem with American (Region 1) or Hong Kong (Region 3) DVDs using the same software, but I have only tested English titles. Is there perhaps something odd with multibyte handling? For reference, I have libc6 2.3.2.ds1-11, and wget is not installed. -- Emmet
