Dear Maintainer,
It would be ideal to start addressing numerous requests for https capable
repositories for installations and for updates. At this time there is a small
subset of official mirrors that do provide https as an option. Perhaps we could
start to publish a listing of those servers as an available alternative option
to those in place such as rsync, ftp, and http.

deb.debian.org is the default mirror in the installer nowadays, provides
the main and security archives along with a couple others, and is
available on both http and https.
So I'm going to go ahead and close this bug. Thanks for the report.
Cheers,
