Package: hal
Version: 0.5.7-2
Severity: important
When I tell gnome-power-manager to suspend my system it pops up saying
that there was an error. If I launch gnome-power-manager --no-daemon
--verbose then I see the following message:
[gpm_hal_handle_error] gpm-hal.c:192 (00:56:38): suspend failed
(A security policy in place prevents this sender from sending this
message to this recipient, see message bus configuration file (rejected
message had interface "org.freedesktop.Hal.Device.SystemPowerManagement"
member "Suspend" error name "(unset)" destination
"org.freedesktop.Hal"))
<policy group="powerdev">
<allow send_interface="org.freedesktop.Hal.Device.SystemPowerManagement"/>
<allow send_interface="org.freedesktop.Hal.Device.LaptopPanel"/>
<!--
<allow send_interface="org.freedesktop.Hal.Device.Volume"/>
<allow send_interface="org.freedesktop.Hal.Device.Volume.Crypto"/>
-->
</policy>
and:
$ groups
sam adm cdrom audio video wheel allow-ssh plugdev fuse powerdev
So I don't see why I am unable to suspend the machine.

After reloading dbus I was able to issue the suspend command. Of course, it
crashed my machine, but that's power management for you. ;)
