Package: workrave
Version: 1.8.1-1+b1
Severity: important
Workrave will always fall over with the following message if left
running for long enough (less than an hour):
talkie ~ % workrave
The program 'workrave' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadWindow (invalid Window parameter)'.
(Details: serial 57080 error_code 3 request_code 15 minor_code 0)
(Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line
option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)
Sadly, if I run with --sync, with or without gdb, it will never fall
over, and I have not managed to find a way to reproduce the problem on
demand.
What can I do to gather more useful information? It doesn't render
workrave unusable (because, thanks to the joyous heisenbug, I can just
run it with --sync) but...

While this bug may be a real problem under certain circumstances, it
usually isnt’t. Debian’s standard installation of X.org should be fine
with Workrave, at least in recent versions. Original submitter hasn’t
experienced the crashes for a long time now.
Therefore I close this issue.
