It affects some WM.
This was already reported on i3 side [1] and on suckless side [2].
It was fixed by commit db6093f6ec1bb884f7540f2512935b5254750b30 [3].
Could you backport that commit or, (better IMO) update dmenu to
version 5.0 (released on 2020/09/02) [4] ?
