Hi. I noticed that you cannot export to PDF file from the File->Export menu
unless texlive-fonts-extra is installed. Otherwise, there is no PDF output
option listed. You don't need to be writing any special document; a new
default article behaves the same. To get the File->Export->PDF (*) options you
have to install texlive-fonts-extra, and then tell LyX it exists by doing a
Tools->Reconfigure.
What's a bit weird is that you can still generate the preview PDF by clicking
the View PDF toolbar button. This seems to work regardless of whether or not
texlive-fonts-extra is installed. (Seems a bit suspicious to me, as if LyX
doesn't really need texlive-fonts-extra to export to PDF, but insists on it
anyway.)
Peace,
Brendon
