Greetings,

as described in the developers' reference, I hereby declare my intention
to salvage the gnugp2 package, with the primary goal of having a recent
upstream version in the upcoming release; and long-term to assert it
will be kept in shape, by (without a particular preference) joining the
team or or taking over maintainership.

According to the "(conservative) criteria" list found in the Debian
wiki:

| A package is eligible for salvaging if it is in clear need of some
| love and care, i.e. there are open bugs,

Lots.

| missing upstream releases,

Several. Debian has 2.20, uploaded in March. Upstream is at 2.26.

There was a "new upstream version availabe" bug report in December 2020:
<https://bugs.debian.org/977863>. This also lists features that are
interesting to have.

| or there is work needed from a quality-assurance perspective;

Possibly yes.

| AND there is the need to upload the package to deal with these issues;

Yes.

| AND at least one of these criteria applies:

| There is no visible activity regarding the package for six months, OR

Yes: Last upload, also commit to salsa was in March 2020:
https://salsa.debian.org/debian/gnupg2/-/commits/debian/master

| A previous NMU was not acknowledged, and a bug justifying another
| NMU is pending for one month 1, OR

No

| The last upload was an NMU and there was no maintainer upload
|   within one year, OR

No

| Bugs exist for more than one major missing upstream version2 and
| the first bug is older than one year, OR

No

| The package blocks a sourceful transition for six months after a
| transition bug was filed against the package in question.

No

Regards,

    Christoph
