i guess real reason of bug #984696 and #984694 is that the
mkesmtpdcert tool has an error: check this sequence:
it seems that the script put the pem file in the /usr/lib/courier
event in /etc/courier, or maybe permission problems
serveruno:/etc/courier# mkesmtpdcert
/etc/courier/esmtpd.pem already exists.
serveruno:/etc/courier# rm /etc/courier/emstpd.pem
rm: no se puede borrar '/etc/courier/emstpd.pem': No existe el fichero
o el directorio
serveruno:/etc/courier#
Markus.. the problem is not the smtpaccess.dat or imapaccess.dat so
please check this again .. just run the script .. if you could
reproduce it.. mark #984696 and #984694 as real solved i m still
coding at the scripts but i just testing first upgrade xperience.. (i
never do upgrade .. just one install and 9 years of peace since
squeeze)

Note that version 1.0.16-3 is only in unstable, not in testing.
so feel free to close this cos was a very big upgraded case, not so common
