I found this Problem also in totem (using gstreamer) and mplayer and it
looks completely alike. I checked an x86 computer and the problem does
not appear there. That is why I assume it is an big endian problem.
Any AVC1 Film shows this behaviour. I put up a screenshot of the

I got no idea which version actually fixed this, but the current version
in unstable does not have this problem anymore.
