This issue is caused by a change in texlive.
As upstream authors we recommand fixing this issue in Debian stable by applying
the patch in commit
https://github.com/pyx-project/pyx/commit/8d561b02e55008e4ad50ea7bdd247a1c9a58b2ee
since otherwise text output is broken for all LaTeX users. We recieved several
corresponding bug reports already.
