spline fails to cross build from source, because it strips with the
build architecture strip during make install. Doing so also breaks
generation of -dbgsym packages, but DEB_BUILD_OPTIONS=nostrip is
surprisingly honoured by the upstream Makefile. Please consider applying
the attached patch to disable such stripping and leaving it up to
dh_strip, which uses the correct strip.
