Package: spicctrl
Version: 1.5-3
Severity: important
/dev/sonypi does not exist on this system (and no devfs in the default
knoppix kernel) and there does not seem to be any statement in the
docs about which major/minor device numbers are used for it. Thus
cannot be used..

Hi,
The device file used by spicctrl is not the responsibility of this
package.
The device file should be created according to the documentation for
your kernel, of for the kernel patch that you need to apply to older
kernels to support the Sony PIC.
For a 2.6.16 kernel, for example, see Documentation/sonypi.txt
In newer kernels (2.6.xx and later, where xx is 10 or so) the sonypi
driver is included as standard and udev will create the /dev/sonypi
device file when the module is inserted.
As a result, I am closing this bug.
Regards,
Andrew McMillan.
