Package: ntpdate
Maintainer: Bdale Garbee <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
Version: 1:4.1.0-4
I want to synchronize my time using ntpdate. When I try this I get the following
error:
excalibur:~# ntpdate timeserver.ipfnet.net
15 Feb 09:33:56 ntpdate[737]: no server suitable for synchronization found
If I run the same command with the -d (debug) flag, I get the following:
excalibur:~# ntpdate -d timeserver.ipfnet.net
15 Feb 09:34:25 ntpdate[738]: ntpdate 4.1.0 Mon Jan 7 05:05:35 UTC 2002 (2)

But my local time is still not set. I also tried to use the alternative:
-b Force the time to be stepped using the settimeofday() system call,
rather than slewed (default) using the adjtime() system call. This option should
be used when called from a startup file at boot time.
excalibur:~# ntpdate -d -b timeserver.ipfnet.net

With no feedback in four years and the circumstantial nature of the bug,
it seems pointless to keep it around.
