Dear Maintainer,

I'm attaching a cut-down manual that illustrates this.

In short:
  cell  $ equation $    cell    cell
welds everything since some point together
(i.e. either cell I[equation]cellcell or cellI[equation]cellcell),
but appears to render the equation correctly,
adding data before and after the equation explodes the table in a
different way, but embedding it in T{ T} (or T{ .EQ .EN T}) renders
correctly.

All render correctly in troff (-Tps).
