Dear Maintainer,

The rtl8723ds is a chip in the same family as the other Bluetooth adapters
supported by this package which requires a different set of firmware binaries.

The firmware binaries are available from the following GitHub repository:
https://github.com/armbian/firmware/tree/master/rtl_bt

According to the WHENCE file in the package, the existing firmware files were
also sourced from this repository.

However it's not fully clear if these firmware files fall under the same
license as the existing rtl_bt files, as there is no license information
in the Armbian firmware repository. Do you have any information about
where the license for the existing firmware files came from, and if the
others are covered under the same license?

The upstream repository is https://github.com/anarsoul/rtl8723bt-firmware
as defined in debian/copyright.

The firmware files that you are looking for were added with
https://github.com/armbian/firmware/commit/a6a67c2b83b0638fddfd10608b9d58d74e3e01a2
and there is a hint that they come from NextThingCo (probably
https://github.com/NextThingCo/rtl8723ds_bt).
However, there is no indication in the armbian or NextThingCo repositories
about the applicable license.
I trust the anarsoul repo owner not to distribute the firmware under a wrong
license.

The filename in NextThingCo suggests that the firmware is the same for the rtl8723d
(without "s").
That is contained in kernel.org's linux-firmware repo and is properly licensed.
Those firmware files are not the same but you can certainly try to run your
chip with them.

If they do not work I'd suggest you ask NextThingCo which license they
distribute this under.
But I guess they are out of business, so Armbian would be the next one to ask.

I am closing this as it is not a problem of this package.
