Package: kdm
Version: 4:4.1.2-1
Severity: important
When upgrading to kde4 I've yet again run into the "kdm sources my .profile and
makes my X session crash because I use screen on the console" problem. Despite
this solution being IMHO hackish I didn't file a bug report because it obviously
served a purpose. But while test-upgrading another box from etch to lenny I've
found out that with x11-common 1:7.3+9 a general solution to the "I can't set
env-vars for my X session" problem has been introduced: The scripts in /etc/X11
source the file ~/.xsessionrc (announced in NEWS.Debian).
I therefore suggest to realign kdm with the Debian Way of Doing Things (tm),
drop /etc/kde4/kdm/Xsession and announce all this in NEWS.Debian.
With this implemented #471450 (use .xsessionrc) and #464729 (no longer applies)
could be closed, too.
Yours, Daniel

kdm was last released with Debian 8 (jessie) in April 2015
and was removed from the Debian archive afterwards.
It has been superseded by sddm.
See https://bugs.debian.org/803635 for details on the removal.
I'm closing the remaining bug reports now.
Andreas
