i guess it is due to my video card but not sure ASUS P something
I tried gdm, and same issue
mouse work
but keyboard not at all
killall -e kdm -9
kill the kdm but it remasin blue
and does not return to console
no way to make it work at all
apt-get remove kdm is the solution and startx _:( :(

kdm was last released with Debian 8 (jessie) in April 2015
and was removed from the Debian archive afterwards.
It has been superseded by sddm.
