Dear Maintainer,
This has been happening for quite sometime now. I call up to update
the index and aptitude updates the whole index. At the very end it
gives this :-

Error: Timeout was reached

An example run would be much illustrative of what happens :-

Hi!

Since this bug was reported, there have actually been a bunch of
changes to make this issue both less likely and give a better message.
I think the only thing we can't really defend against is a broken
transaction database - but at least errors should be less noisy.
If this issue happens again, please feel free to create a new bug or
reopen this one though :-)

Cheers,
    Matthias
