If you want this handled in Ubuntu, I'm afraid you have to open a bug report
with them, we in Debian has no way of changing any packages in Ubuntu.

Yes, this is indeed a bug, it was present from version 1.9.6 and fixed in
version 1.9.11, referenced upstream in issue [1]. Tough there is nothing for me
to do here, the affected versions is not in Debian,and you are using Ubuntu,
which we in Debian has no control over.
Since this bug resides in Ubuntu, I am closing it, feel free to open a new bug
at Ubuntu, this link [2] will be of help if you want to proceed.
