Package: bsdtar
Severity: normal
Version: 3.1.1-1

I have "rsnapshot" folder on ext4 with backup of /home.
Recently I've archived it using bsdtar and later restored to another ext4
partition successfully without errors or warnings.

However when I restored the archive to btrfs file system `bsdtar` printed
"Failed to set file flags" on nearly all directories in archive.

I don't quite understand why. I've made archive as root and I was restoring it
as root. I used the most straightforward `bsdtar` command: "-c" to create
archive and "-x" to extract.

Hi,

Thanks for reporting a problem with bsdtar all those years ago.

I know that it is very much possible (and even almost certain) that
you have moved on from the setup where this bug showed up, but
I think that there are several flags that were added to bsdtar's
extraction mode between 2015 and 2017 that might help, e.g.
`--no-fflags` or `--no-xattrs`. Of course, this does not change
the default behavior of bsdtar, but it might help when setting up
a workflow.

Thanks for trying to make Debian better by reporting this problem, as
well as for all of your other work on Debian and free software in
general!

G'luck,
Peter
