Package: makedev
Version: 2.3.1-52
Severity: wishlist

I note that /dev/MAKEDEV no longer uses /etc/devinfo, as it did in
earlier Debian releases. To somewhat make up for the thus disappeared
features, I suggest that MAKEDEV is modified to make it possible to
store local device permission settings in /etc, since it now is
necessary (afaict) to edit /sbin/MAKEDEV to accomplish that.

A simple way to accomplish that is to lift out the customization
section at the beginning of MAKEDEV to a script in /etc, and let
MAKEDEV source that script.
