version: 1.5.3-7
severity: wishlist

Version 1.7.0 has been released.
This bug tracks status packaging it.

I have imported the new sources locally and begun rebasing all the
patches. It's proving more challenging than usual.

* Pam has migrated from autotools to meson
* Code around several of our pam_unix patches has been touched

* It looks like how docs are built has changed. It looks like upstream
release tarballs no longer include built man pages, which may prove
  challenging for multi-arch installability.

* Unfortunately I suspect moving docs around bookworm to trixie runs
into fun with usrmerge, so I'm not thrilled to do that.

So far I've spent three hours on the project and gotten through 3/22 patches.
