Dear Maintainer,
I would like to request an ITS on auctex, in accordance with the Package
Salvaging procedure outlined in the Developer Reference[1]. I believe
auctex meets the criteria for ITS, and I would like to assist in
preserving and maintaining it. As the salvaging process suggests, here
is a list of the criteria that apply, in my opinion:
* Bugs filed against the package do not have answers from the
maintainer.
* Upstream has released several versions, but despite there being a bug
entry asking for it, it has not been packaged.
* There are QA issues with the package.
* There is no visible activity regarding the package for six months.
Examples include Bug#1069137, Bug#1056939, etc.
I have a fork of the maintainers' repository that implemented the
suggested improvements[2], and would like to move the package to the
Debian Emacsen team as team maintained. If the maintainers or uploaders
would like to keep maintainership, I am also open to co-maintaining the
package.
I would also like to thank the current maintainers and uploaders for
their previous work on maintaining auctex and I have learned a lot when
working on this package.
Thanks in advance.

Dear Xiyue Deng,
I'm the maintainer of the Debian AUCTeX package, and I publicly object
to this ITS.
I am currently working on the package and will upload a new version as
soon as I finish the work.
Thank you for your interest in the package, I will review your work.
