I was just prompted by my trixie installation to "apt modernize", which
basically moves sources.list to /etc/apt/sources.list.d. However, with the new
DEB822 format the files are now called *.source, and since the *.list format is
being phased out, that directory really ought to be called /etc/apt/sources.d/
I propose Debian in future releases operate with two directories,
/etc/apt/sources.list.d and /etc/apt/sources.d, and deprecate the former.

We should not create pointless work for people in the quest for
ultimate tidyness here.
