Package: gtk-engines-smooth
Version: 0.6.0.1-1
Severity: important
I first noticed problems with gnucash, but I've since decided that the
problem is with this theme rather than gnucash itself.
I've noticed several problems with gnucash that all started in the last
week or so (around the time I upgraded this package from 0.5.8).
Anything involving a pop-up list loads very slowly (especially on my old
hardware). Also, if I resize the main gnucash window so that a
scrollbar appears, gnucash will crash fairly reliably when I try to
scroll up and down.
I get frequent errors like this while gnucash is running and redrawing:
Gdk-CRITICAL **: file gdkdraw.c: line 380 (gdk_draw_pixmap): assertion
`src != NULL' failed. I don't think I got them before, but most of the
time I didn't run from the commandline, so I'm not sure.
I crashed gnucash under gdb and the backtrace showed that it was
somewhere in libsmooth when the crash occurred. (If the backtrace or
other debugging information would be helpful, I can reproduce it and
send it along.)
I don't have many other programs that require gtk-1.2, so I don't have
much else to test it with, but I installed gmanedit, and it also runs
noticeably slower with smooth themes than with other themes when using
the file selection dialog. (I haven't got it to crash yet.)
By the way, I tried upgrading to the version of gtk-engines-smooth in
unstable (0.6.0.1-3) hoping the problems would go away, but they didn't.
