Ubuntu has been stripping -Wl,-Bsymbolic-functions from their
libjpeg-turbo package since 2012. Please apply this change in Debian
also. In my follow-up email, I will attach a patch for this.
I think this change is more important for Ubuntu than for Debian
because Ubuntu's toolchain differs on this point. See for instance
