Package: axiom
Version: 20140801-11
Everything I said in Bug #827953 is also valid for axiom.
For the packages I test for "dpkg-buildpackage -A", these are the ten
requiring more memory:
python2.7 5685
libbson 5700
webkitgtk 7015
acl2 7355
gap 8268
gcl 9375
mame 10363
gdk-pixbuf 11564
maxima 17823
axiom 21190
As it's shown, axiom is at the very end, and only because I used a big
machine to build it.
Thanks.

Greetings, and thanks so much for your report! This issue is fixed
now. All gcl based builds can limit the runtime memory consumption via
the use of environment variables as described on the homepage and
release notes. The axiom package uses one of these approaches to
control memory use when building in parallel.
Take care,
