Package: gnome-system-tools
Version: 0.31.0-2
Severity: normal
File: /usr/bin/services-admin

Open the services admin.
Enter the root password.
Click "more alternatives" in the lower left corner.
Click on the drop-down box that appears near the top of the window.

Current result:
I get the following list:
"
Halting the system
Graphical mode
Text mode
Rebooting the system
"

I'm guessing the above list refers to different runlevels. On Redhat (based)
systems, runlevel 3 is used for booting without launching a graphical login,
and
runlevel 5 is used for booting with a graphical login. On Debian, runlevel 2
is
used all the time, and a graphical login is launched if it is installed.

Thus, that menu shouldn't contain "Graphical mode" or "Text mode" but "Normal"
or
something along those lines.

As I haven't looked at the source I don't know what runlevels that tool
modifies,
but I'd be surprized if it was the correct one for Debian (2).

Hi,

a long long time ago you reported that the services-admin tool from
gnome-system-tools assumed RH style rc?.d assignment. Since I can't
reproduce this bug nor do the source files from the supplied patch for
this bug exist anymore I'm assuming the problem no longer exists.

If you can reproduce this bug then please reopen it.

MfG
        Goswin
