The most likely cause of build failures is the removed backwards compatibility
for
CMake versions earlier than 3.5. You can find additional information in my

This wasn’t related to CMake 4, but to a LaTeX regression. (This is just for
info, I don’t mean to imply that you should have figured this out.)
