Hash: SHA1
Package: mozilla-firefox
Version: 0.8-7
Severity: normal
Username and password are entered WITHOUT launching the password manager
for some https log-ins, but not for others.
To reproduce:
1) Launch mozilla-firefox.
2) Go to https log-in page for which you already have saved
username/password with password manager in an earlier session.
3) Notice the username/password are /already/ inserted. The password
manager does not launch at all.
Example sites inserting username/password without launching password
manager:
https://www.aa.com/apps/utility/logInOut/LoginMember.jhtml
https://www22.verizon.com/secure/pages/paybill/
Example site working properly (launches password manager):
https://webmail.rcn.com/
I have no cookies saved for these sites.
When I upgraded from Firebird .7-6 to Firefox .8-7, I did mv .phoenix
.firefox . IIRC, some additional tweaking was needed for Firefox to
regain it's Firebird prefs. Is there some possibility differences in
handling signons.txt are causing this? Is there something else I should
check?
Thank you for your work on a great browser.

src:iceweasel has been superseded by src:firefox-esr in version
45.0esr-1 in March 2016. Transitional packages to ease upgrades were
provided in the wheezy, jessie, stretch and buster releases. The
transitional packages have been removed finally before the bullseye
release in August 2021.
After regular security support for buster ended in August 2022 and LTS
support ended in June 2024, I'm closing the remaining bug reports now.
