When gdm starts and the greeter is ready, there is a sound/bell
noise. Normally this is only annoying for me, but in a silent
environment such as a library it annoys others and may even lead
to expulsion.
I tried in /etc/gdm3/greeter.gsettings:
[org.gnome.desktop.sound]
event-sounds=false
and in /etc/gdm3/daemon.conf:
[daemon]
SoundOnLogin=false
but without success. Furthermore, editing config files is not
for everyone (some users I know would try it as non-priv user
with LO).
Sound should be off by default.
