Package: gnome-session
Version: 3.4.2-2
Severity: minor
The GNOME3 desktop is not aware of change events of the X property
_NET_DESKTOP_GEOMETRY(CARDINAL).
We (X2Go upstream) currently test all recent desktop shells with
nxagent (NX) as X-Server. I am aware of NX not being latest X-Server
code, but many people use NX for remote access to Linux desktops, so
this may be relevant to people using Debian.
The X2Go upstream nx-libs code base is here:
http://code.x2go.org/gitweb?p=nx-libs.git;a=summary
X2Go server packages can be obtained from here:
deb http://packages.x2go.org/debian wheezy main
The phenomen is this:
o Launch NX/X2Go session (GNOME -> gnome3) with screen size 800x600
o a 800x600 window with the top-left corner of a GNOME desktop appears
o the desktop shell has the size of the client machine (the machine running
NX client / X2Go client), not the size of the NX agent window, so the
desktop shell does not fit inside the window
o if you pick one of the corners of the 800x600-NX-window with the mouse and
try to resize it the window does indeed resize. Not so the
session elements
inside, they do not adapt their sizes (panel, background, etc.)
With XFCE4 or KDE4 the elements inside the desktop do resize properly
and adapt to the size of the nxagent window.
Hope, that someone in the Gome packaging team has an interest in this
and an idea what the cause for this can be.
I guess, this issue has to be forwarded to upstream, but may I ask
someone of the packaging team to decide on this?
Thanks+Greets,
Mike Gabriel
