Dear Maintainer,
A lot of recent laptops don't have separate mouse buttons. Instead part of the
trackpad
serves as the mouse buttons. On these it's much more natural to tap to click
than to
actually go to the appropriate corner and press hard to effect a mouse click.
This trend is further reinforced by smartphones and tablets which train users
to just tap
and not have 'mouse buttons' (And I hereby predict that in a few years a lot of
the young
ones may not even know what a mouse button is).
Given all that it should be possible to tap to click in the gdm screen, by
default.

Tap to click has been enabled by default since
gsettings-desktop-schemas 46~beta-1 which is included in Debian 13.
For configuring other login screen settings from the GNOME Settings
app, follow https://bugs.debian.org/825977 or the GNOME bug attached
to it.
