--- Begin Message ---Package: gnome-shell Version: 3.22.3-2 Severity: normal Dear Maintainer, After my update of sunday, when I was clicking on a HTTP link, my system was using thunderbird instead of firefox. Which is not how my system was configured. Of course it didn't worked. But after a while I saw my system become REALLY slow. Which is anormal. My 4 CPUs was using more than 70% and my load average above 4. By checking my process I saw this: kgaspard 31068 0.0 0.0 11352 3172 tty2 S+ 10:43 0:00 /bin/bash /usr/bin/thunderbird http://www.digitick.com/ultra-vomit-concert-alhambra-paris-05-mai-2017-css4-digitick-pg101-ri4497323.html kgaspard 31081 42.5 0.7 1447004 125636 tty2 Rl+ 10:43 0:00 /usr/lib/thunderbird/thunderbird http://www.digitick.com/ultra-vomit-concert-alhambra-paris-05-mai-2017-css4-digitick-pg101-ri4497323.html kgaspard 31126 0.0 0.0 11352 3264 tty2 S+ 10:43 0:00 /bin/bash /usr/bin/thunderbird http://www.digitick.com/ultra-vomit-concert-alhambra-paris-05-mai-2017-css4-digitick-pg101-ri4497323.html kgaspard 31138 0.0 0.2 422272 45780 tty2 S+ 10:43 0:00 /usr/lib/thunderbird/thunderbird http://www.digitick.com/ultra-vomit-concert-alhambra-paris-05-mai-2017-css4-digitick-pg101-ri4497323.html kgaspard 31140 0.0 0.0 0 0 tty2 Z+ 10:43 0:00 [thunderbird] <defunct> and when I killed all of these process, my system stopped to be slow. I checked the default application for HTTP and it was thunderbird. I changed that to firefox and I didn't had this problem since. I think the update of sunday modified my default application. I don't have a patch to help you, I don't have the knowledge, so I report it. I tried to report it to GNOME project but they said I should probably do it here. (this is was I reported on the GNOME project: https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=780899) I hope I'm not doing useless noise again. PS: Sorry for my english.
