Package: cheese
Version: 2.30.1-3
Severity: normal

When I start cheese, the video resolution defaults to 640x480. But when
it starts up, the video area is solid black instead of showing an image
from the webcam. If I go to preferences, and change the resolution to
anything else, then the picture shows the feed from my webcam (it works
correctly). If I then change the resolution back to 640x480, it still
works correctly, and the resolution appears to have actually switched to
640x480. But If I get it working by changing the resolution to something
else, then back to 640x480, and then change the effect in any way, it
will stop working, and go back to solid black. In any other resolution,
switching the effect works perfectly, without losing the picture.

To see that the camera is able to start up correctly in 640x480, the
following command works:

gst-launch v4l2src device=/dev/video0 !
'video/x-raw-yuv,width=640,height=480,framerate=30/1' ! xvimagesink

and I see the webcam feed on the screen as expected.

In cheese, if I switch to a resolution other than 640x480, and exit
cheese, then start it again, when I start it again, the video area
correctly shows the webcam feed.
