I reported a bug against geeqie (#951858) because it does not show PCX images
anymore.
I suggested that it might be a shared library bug.
Its maintainer (Andreas Rönnquist) confirmed it, closed #951858 and told me
that the bug was from gdk-pixbuf.

Yes, this format was intentionally removed a decade ago from gdk-pixbuf.

If you need it back, you'll need to convince glycin upstream to
support the format. It is one of the formats included in
https://github.com/image-rs/image-extras so maybe it's possible.

Then gdk-pixbuf needs some connecting work like was recently done to
support xpm & xbm via glycin.
Alternatively, it may be best for you to use something like
imagemagick to convert your .pcx files to a more commonly used image
format.
I am closing this bug because this isn't the kind of issue that can
simply be fixed directly in Debian. The Debian GNOME team has too many
open bugs so it's best for us to close feature request bugs that need
to be handled upstream.
