Package: libc5

rcp can sometimes fail with 'Address already in use' despite having
sucessfully bound to a local port. This is due to a bug in rcmd().

rcmd() uses rrsevport() to get a reserved port. Since the chance of
getting the first port it tries is small, this functions usually errno
to EADDRINUSE. Later, rcmd() then sends locuser, remuser and cmd to
the remote hosts and waits for a reply:

libc-5.4.33/inet/rcmd.c, lines 235-238, rmd():

        if (read(s, &c, 1) != 1) {
                perror(*ahost);
                goto bad2;
        }

If the read() returns 0, errno is not set but perror is called anyway.
This produces the incorrect error message.

This is end-of-life for libc5. Libc5 is in sarge, but will not be in the next
release
of Debian. Accordingly, I am closing all the bugs against libc5.

Bush admitted to violating FISA and said he was proud of it.
So why isn't he in prison yet?...
