Hi,
mpich-bin installs an alternative for mpirun in its postinst as
/usr/bin/mpirun.mpich, but the prerm removes /usr/lib/#MPICH/bin/mpirun,
which doesn't exist. When removing mpich, the system is left with many
broken symlinks.
Please change the call to update-alternatives in mpich-bin.prerm to:
update-alternatives --remove mpirun /usr/bin/mpirun.mpich
