Hi,
I am very keen to use cowbuilder, and it works great at building
packages. However, after building a few packages cowbuilder will fail
with the error

pbuilder: Failed autobuilding of package
I had a similar problem with pbuilder for a while which I solved by
using fakeroot-tcp both inside and outside the chroot. I would prefer
not to do this however, as fakeroot-tcp has its problems as well. I am
unable to use this workaround with cowbuilder however, as fakeroot is
not installed inside the chroot until build-time. I could install it
permanantly, but that goes against the principle of these build helpers.
I have had a look in the source for where fakeroot is being requested
from apt, but I cannot see it. I did however see the Readme.DEBIAN note
about possible problems with fakeroot. Is this the sort of problem that
you had in mind? Perhaps it would be good to expand upon those comments
in Readme.DEBIAN.
I am not entirely sure but I think that it may have something to do with
cowbuilder not cleaning up correctly on a failed build.
Please contact me if you would like more investigation, or any patches
testing.
Thanks,
James

Hi,
I am closing this bug as I can no longer reproduce it.
I had to reinstall my system a while ago, and that might have had
something to do with it.
