Package: exim4-config
Version: 4.34-2
Severity: wishlist
As many others I am using exim4 on a standalone machine. Therefore, I do
send my mail through my ISP's smarthost. However, after going through
the debconf, I always got a 501 (invalid mail-address) error.
On debian-user-german I got told, to change my /etc/email-addresses. I
think this should either be done by debconf or one of the debconf menues
should at least tell me about it (in the same way as I am told about
/usr/share/doc/exim4-base/README.SMTP-AUTH).

This is not going to be debconf-driven. And debconf notes are not
meant to replicate information that is already in the docs.
Starting with exim4 4.62-2, /etc/email-addresses has a man page and is
mentioned in README.Debian.
I am thus closing this bug due to the fact that your issue has been
solved by improving documentation.
Greetings
Marc
