Thank you for your report. First off, we cannot update our stable
release for these kinds of problems. I'm closing the report with our sid
version because it doesn't occur there.

I cannot reproduce these errors. I was not the maintainer of the sarge
version, so I'm not intimately aware with its quirks, but the phpmyadmin
package does not use readlink. I see that you have some backports
installed, I suspect that there might be one of these backports that
might cause this error?
