There are 2 very similar issues open upstream: * https://github.com/pwmt/zathura/issues/65 (reported on 2018-06-13) "Large document is not drawn correctly" saying I am trying to open a large PDF with zathura but all I see is black screen. I try to scroll up and down - status bar shows pages are changed, but it does not improve the screen issue. which is what I noticed (but the user doesn't say whether only the first pages are black). BTW, this was also with "Intel® 64 and IA-32 Architectures Software Developer's Manual". * https://github.com/pwmt/zathura/issues/365 (reported on 2022-12-15) "Large PDF (ARMv8 reference manual) renders black pages with mupdf backend" But note that the issue was also reproducible with the poppler backend, as used in Debian. Other users confirmed the issue, each time with a large PDF file. Last week, a user said I am experiencing similar issues. I was also trying to view that same ARMv8 reference that lead me here. I can't see any pages until about page 6000 or so when it does finally render a page.
