I just did an upgrade for my sarge at work, the one with the US keyboard. My X11 is now :
ii xserver-xfree86 4.3.0.dfsg.1-10 the XFree86 X server
console-data and xserver-xfree86 are configured to use US plain keyboard layout.
The us_intl keyboard is no longer broken
I think you can close this bug.
