Hi, I've stumbled over a very similar problem: after removing a package (squid2.7 in my case), no other logs were rotated anymore.
That's sort of a show-stopper if you have some logs growing fast... Being forced to purge a package in order to keep using logrotate should even warrant raising the severity, imho.
