Package: osirismd Version: 4.0.6-1 Severity: important
osirismd has issues dealing with SMTP Greet strings > 128 characters. This is defined in md_notify.c MAX_SMTP_LINE. Currently the mail system my osiris is talking to is sendmail (ala debian) and this default greet is over 128, so osiris is not able to send email via a debian packaged sendmail. Looking at the RFC's (2821) 512 would be more appropriate as being the maximum total length of a reply line. http://rfc.net/rfc2821.html#s4.5.3 for more information The obvious work around is to shorten sendmails greet, but, I believe the real fix will be for osiris to deal with RFC compliant SMTP servers. If there is anymore information required that I may be able to assist with please let me know.
