I would also like to thank you for taking the time for chasing this bug. Indeed it seems finally to have something with printing as initially suggested (or cups server support at least). Could you see if you can reproduce also the bug #289715 in the same non working condition.
I have indeed added the KDE look and feel package in the mean time which explains why the bug did disappear.
