Hi.

I discovered the cause of the problem: I had dash installed as /bin/sh
instead of bash.  Changing back bash to be /bin/sh makes the postinst
script work normally as expected.

I guess that this could be considered as a "bashism" in the postinst
scripts and should, therefore, be fixed in a future version of
java-package.
